Body language for self-confidence

Thinking is amazing. It is worthwhile to think of ourselves as a confident person, and then we have confidence in ourselves. It is worth wanting to evoke a specific emotion, how it appears and completely changes the mood. No less amazing things happen with the body. Teach yourself to walk in small steps, cringe and wring your hands – and uncertainty is assured to you. And vice versa: strong postures are automatically recognized by the brain. He receives a signal: “A person stands in a strong posture. So he is a strong man and confident in himself. ” It’s amazing, but it works, worked and will work.

1
Smile

This advice is pretty boring, but only because it’s the easiest way to arrange the interlocutor and gain confidence in yourself. Smiling, we seem to ourselves better than before. This is noticed by the brain: if we smile, then everything is fine.

Action: waking up in the morning, go to the mirror and smile. Let it look stupid, but even more stupid you look when you are behaving insecure. Smile several times a day, when you do not see, and also when meeting with friends.

2
Pay attention to the pose

As already mentioned, our brain is easy to carry out. If the pose is confident, he thinks that the person himself is sure.

Action: always watch your back and breathe. The back should be flat, and the breathing smooth, but not intermittent. If necessary, look at yourself in the mirror. Would you trust this person? Also watch for confident and insecure people and try to see the difference.

3
Use strong posture

Standing in a strong pose for two minutes you will increase the amount of testosterone and reduce the amount of cortisol (stress hormone).

Action: Watch the video of Amy Cuddy from the TED conference, where she talks about strong postures. Choose three poses and practice them every day.

4
Use the body language involved

To convince or dispose of someone, for the beginning it is necessary to achieve that a person will be comfortable with you. Nobody will listen to the interlocutor who does not know how to get carried away.

Here is the arsenal of the body language involved:

Smile
Open gestures
Mirroring (repetition of the posture and gestures of the interlocutor)
Action: practice the body language involved. Exercise before the mirror. It is important to maintain a complete balance – not to be too intrusive, but not too boring. In a conversation, try to apply the technique of mirroring first.

5
Remember your hands and feet

As if these myths have not been debunked in our time, but very often crossed arms and legs indicate a tightness and defensive position.

Action: pay attention to your hands and feet during the conversation. You will notice that very often in moments of anxiety or unease you automatically try to take a defensive posture. Be open.

Going to a cafe, look at the people at the next tables. What can be said about each of them? Surely you will notice that the person whose hands are in the right position seems more confident.

6th
Firm handshake

A firm handshake testifies to the inner strength of a man and even a woman. Navigate to this website. It makes a good impression and makes it clear to the interlocutor that you are no worse than him.

Action: First of all, never go with an outstretched hand to shake someone else’s. And before you stretch it, look into the other person’s eyes so that he sees your hand. The handshake should be firm, but not strong.

7th
Wear clothes that bring confidence

Despite the fact that confidence comes from within, you can take advantage of external factors. Inconvenient clothing leads to uncertainty, everyone knows this (although not all follow it). But a convenient one can be inappropriate for a particular situation. Well, the employer does not like it when they come to him for an interview in shorts.

Action: Inspect your wardrobe. Listen to yourself: what clothes cause discomfort and you simply do not like it? Do not convince yourself of anything, be honest. Including when buying clothes. Yes, these are beautiful shoes, but if they are tight, they should not be bought in any case.

8
Stop fidgeting

The company Adecco USA interviewed 500 managers of various American companies. Half of them admitted that they refused the job seeker because of nervousness and fidgeting. The rattling on the chair affects everything: voice, confidence, thinking.

Action: mark the triggers that lead to this state. Think about what you can replace these triggers. Just do not try to choose an inadequate substitute in the form of chewing gum or overly unbridled behavior.
